New residential sales of single-family houses in November 2007 were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 647,000 units - the lowest rate in more than 12 years. This is 9 percent below the revised October rate of 711,000 units, according to the U.S. Commerce Department. The drop is 34.4 percent below the November 2006 estimate of 987,000 units, the biggest annual slide since early 1991.

NWFA Certified Professionals will offer a Certified Inspector Symposium running concurrently with the NWFA 2008 Convention in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., March 25-28. The symposium is for certified inspectors only and will offer a variety of speaker sessions dedicated to issues facing verified inspectors. Attendees will also be able to attend any NWFA Convention education session or general session, as well as the Wood Flooring Expo trade show. The cost to attend the NWFACP Symposium is $350. The cost for all the events, including NWFA Convention special events, is an additional $200. NWFA Convention special events can be purchased a la carte for $75.
