Old Master Products Inc., producer of The Garrison Collection, (Van Nuys, Ca.) held the grand opening of its South San Francisco distribution outlet on August 7. More than 300 contractors and representatives of leading dealerships attended the event.
Distributor News Clarke American Sanders (Springdale, Ark.) has added several distributors to its network, including TRC Distribution (Calgary, Alberta); Woodland Distributors Inc. UFloor Systems Inc. (Greensboro, N.C.) has added World Depot (Westbrook, Maine) as a distributor throughout New England and Vega World Supply (Newark, N.J.) as a distributor for the Tri-State area.
Avant-Guard Flooring (Laval, Quebec) has formed Avant-Guard Distribution Inc. The new company will operate in the province of Ontario and will be the exclusive distributor for all of the Avant-Guard manufactured brands, as well as other brands of flooring such as Somerset Wood Products Inc.' (Somerset, Ky.) line of American-made flooring products.
Retailer News Lumber Liquidators Inc. (Toano, Va.) reported second quarter net sales of $128 million, up 21.1 percent from $105.7 million in the second quarter of 2007. Comparable store net sales increased 2.7 percent for the quarter, while non-comparable store net sales increased $19.5 million from the same time in 2007. For the first six months of 2008, net sales increased 22.7 percent from $ 197.7 million in the first six months of 2007 to $242.6 million.

SeaPort Hardwoods & Flooring (Tualatin, Ore.) recently hired Andrew Shannon. Shannon comes with nine years' experience in the hardwood flooring industry, having previously worked for Cascade Pacific and D-Lux Hardwood Floors.

By the Numbers According to the National Association of Home Builders' (NAHB) Remodeling Market Index (RMI), the current market conditions indicator for the second quarter of 2008 stayed the same as the first quarter at 41.8, while the future expectations rose slightly from 37.9 in the first quarter to 38 in the second quarter.

NWFA Member Services The NWFA will host two Advanced Intermediate Installation and Sand & Finish schools. The first will be held August 26-29 in Atlanta, and the second will be held September 9-12 in St. Louis.
