Wood Flooring Sought for Paralyzed Veteran's Home

Government officials, non-profit leaders and local contractors around Woodbridge, Va., have banded together to help build an addition on the family home of Marine Josh Himan-and they need hardwood flooring. Project organizers are working on gathering at least $40,000 in donations to complete the project, but they're also looking for in-kind donations of hardwood flooring, a gas fireplace and a sprinkler system. In 2009, Himan was paralyzed from the chest down when his Humvee hit an improvised explosive device in Helman Province, Afghanistan. The Marine is currently completing treatment at Walter Reed Army Medical Center; however, before he can return to Woodbridge, his family's home must be retrofitted with an accessible bathroom, wide doorways and hallways, and a larger bedroom.
