NWFA Executive Director/CEO Ed Korczak, who led the association for the last 17 years, has retired, effective immediately. During the 2010 NWFA convention in Washington, D.C., Korczak announced his intent to retire this year, and his replacement, Michael Martin, began working at NWFA as COO in February.
Korczak originally planned to work with Martin until the end of the year, but once this year's NWFA convention in San Diego, Calif., was over at the end of April, his plans changed.
"It was a wonderful roast," Korczak stated in a release. "It was a lot of fun looking back on the many friendships I've made in this industry, but the time has come for me to move on. NWFA's leadership transition is well underway, allowing me the luxury of retiring earlier than I had originally planned. I thank everyone for a memorable 17 years with the NWFA. God bless you all."
NWFA Chairman Rick Holden said that Korczak's "contributions to the NWFA and the industry have been significant" and that Korczak "will be missed. We wish him well in his retirement."
Martin is now CEO. He comes to NWFA from the National Association of Electrical Distributors, where he was vice president and served as publisher of The Electrical Distributor (TED) Magazine.
