J.R. Martinez, an Iraq war veteran and "Dancing With the Stars" champion, will visit the National Association of Home Builders' (NAHB) International Builders' Show, which will take place Feb. 8-11 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.
During the show, Martinez will raise awareness of Operation Finally Home, a charitable program providing new homes for injured soldiers. The war veteran, who sustained extensive burns over 40 percent of his body after his Humvee hit a land mine, will make appearances at the Operation Finally Home and the NAHB Building Systems Councils booths. Martinez will also speak to attendees at IBS Live, an event space in the middle of the show floor featuring targeted presentations on topics including consumer preferences, green building trends and entertainment.
In December, Mohawk Industries (Calhoun, Ga.) announced that it is donating flooring for all 16 homes built by Operation Finally Home in 2012.
The International Builders' Show is host to the largest light construction exposition in the world and is expected to attract 50,000 homebuilders, remodelers, developers, suppliers and architects.
