The American Coatings Association (ACA) will hold a webinar Feb. 9 to discuss the emergence of new green building standards and codes for the coatings industry, which is seeing government regulations driving down VOC limits faster than architectural and industrial maintenance regulations.
The webinar will provide information for coatings companies on the scope, applicability, and indoor air quality requirements of emerging green building standards and codes affecting the building industry.
The webinar comes on the heels of a dropped proposal in New York City that would have set a VOC limit of 100 grams per liter of coating for flooring products. Durability + Design, an architectural coatings journal, said the matter was "an example of how green-oriented building-code measures can emerge without much warning or involvement on the part of stakeholders." This new trend can put manufacturers in a lurch if they need to re-tool products to fit a specific pocket's mandatory building code while national standards remain not as strict.
Tim Serie, counsel for the ACA, will lead the webinar. The webinar's registration page is here.
