USFloors Signs Deal With Välinge for Locking System

Manufacturer USFloors (Dalton, Ga.) has signed a non-exclusive licensing agreement to use Välinge's (Viken, Sweden) patented second-generation technology for mechanical locking systems for its cork and wood flooring products. The products will use Välinge's Fold Down installation method, which does not require glue or nails.

USFloors became familiar with Välinge's Fold Down system after Amorim (Mozelos, Portugal)-which acquired a 25 percent ownership stake in USFloors in 2008-licensed the technology.

We have been working together for about a year with the Amorim products. This agreement expands our cooperation with USFloors and reinforces a welcome trend towards more flooring production with mechanical locking systems in North America," Per Nygren, executive vice president of marketing at Välinge, said.
