$2,550 for 9 square feet of wood flooring? It might seem crazy to most people, but to one eBay bidder, that was the right price since the wood flooring was signed by NBA legend Kobe Bryant, according to Yahoo Sports.
The 3-by-3-foot section of wood flooring was from the dismantled Main Gym at Bryant's Lower Merion High School in Pennsylvania, according to Yahoo. The signed piece of sport flooring was auctioned as a fundraising effort by the Kobe and Vanessa Bryant Family Foundation. In 2010, Lower Merion dedicated its new gym to Bryant, who donated $411,000 for its construction. Bidding for the autographed flooring ended on Monday.
Yahoo writer Cameron Smith said the amount paid was "pretty stunning" and "a bit outrageous." In the end, he mused that the flooring might one day be worth $5,000, adding, "With Kobe, you never know."
