Armstrong World Industries (Lancaster, Pa.) has re-hired 35 employees and is looking to re-hire about 40 more at its plant in Beverly, W. Va., according to The Inter Mountain. In November, the company laid off 116 workers at the plant, citing the weak economy.
In addition to the re-hired workers, company spokeswoman Jennifer Johnson told The Inter Mountain that Armstrong will hire 10 new workers. "Like other businesses, we adjusted our manufacturing footprint to coincide with the downturn in the economy and significant drop in demand over the last four years," Johnson told the newspaper. "Now we're seeing some demand return, and as a result, we're adding shifts in certain facilities-like Beverly-to fill our customers' needs."
