The International Wood Products Association's convention held March 28-30 in Indian Wells, Calif., drew 270 attendees, marking a 10 percent increase over last year's attendance.
The IWPA relied on a diverse set of educational programs and speakers, including Henry Juszkiewicz, Gibson Guitar CEO; Lori Dennis, HGTV celebrity designer; Lynn Michaelis, former chief economist with Weyerhaeuser; and Tan Sri Bernard Dompok, Malaysia's Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities. Other highlights included a half-day workshop on complying with the Lacey Act, and a presentation from the Tropical Forest Foundation about advances in tropical forest management.
Next year, IWPA's convention will be held April 17-19 at the Westin Bayshore in Vancouver, B.C.
