During the Awards Luncheon on April 12 at the 2012 NWFA Wood Flooring Expo in Orlando, Fla., the association recognized 11 member companies that had performed volunteer work for charitable organizations over the prior year.
Member companies donated time and materials to the installation of wood floors for missionaries, a disabled veteran, a widow and her family, new homes in the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans, and a group home for mentally challenged men, as well as the refinishing of a historic chapel floor, a Boy Scouts cabin, and a cancer support center. Companies also participated in fundraising and volunteer efforts for the American Heart Association and for animal rescue, neighborhood beautification, and juvenile diabetes awareness projects. Other projects included donating holiday gifts and materials for wooden toys and woodworking classes.
These companies were recognized during the Awards Luncheon:
"These members have all made our communities stronger by exemplifying the philosophy that charity defines us as individuals, as communities, and as an industry," NWFA CEO Michael Martin said during the event.
Also at the Expo, the NWFA announced an association-wide initiative to partner with Homes For Our Troops, a nonprofit group that builds homes for injured veterans.
