Distributor Golden State Flooring (South San Francisco, Calif.) recently shut down three of its branches, effectively removing itself from the flooring market in Southern California.
The branches were located in Santa Fe Springs, Santa Ana and San Diego, according to the company's Allen Smith, vice president of sales. The branches in Santa Ana and San Diego closed on Thursday, while the branch in Santa Fe Springs closed about two weeks prior. Matt Long, president of J.E. Higgins Lumber Co., which owns Golden State Flooring, could not be reached for further details as of publication time for this article.

Since 1929, Golden State Flooring has operated as a division of J.E. Higgins Lumber Company, according to the parent company's website. Golden State Flooring currently lists 10 additional branches on its website.
