Manhattan Forest Products (New York City), a provider of antique and reclaimed wood flooring, recently opened a showroom in Chicago's Merchandise Mart. The new showroom is part of LuxeHome, a collection of premier home furnishing boutiques, and it is located on the building's first floor in Suite 163. LuxeHome will hold a grand opening celebration for Manhattan Forest Products on Thursday from 5-7 p.m.
Manhattan Forest Products specializes in conserving and restoring antique oak, heart pine, cedar, hemlock, chestnut and other vintage hardwoods found in old factories, mills, barns and historical buildings in New York, including Coney Island and Sheffield Dairy; it also provides beams and furniture. The company's mill is operated using solar and wind power, and it recycles wood debris into wood pellets. The company says that to date, the company has recycled timber products comparable to 1,600 acres of forest, an area twice the size of Central Park.
