After a total relaunch in 2012, the 2013 National Wood Flooring Association Wood Flooring Expo followed last year's trend of expansion as the industry worked to "Think Big" in Dallas.
The NWFA estimates 20 percent growth of the show over last year, which itself grew 30 percent over 2011. The show floor was sold out, with 242 companies represented, up from 218 in 2012.
Many exhibitors mentioned the constant flow of traffic on the floor. "I'm starting to lose my voice already," remarked a representative of Graf Brothers Flooring after the first day.
During the Closing Party, Brad Jackson with Mullin Group, the DBA Total Floors won the Expo's grand prize, a $5,000 NWFA Extreme Room Makeover. The NWFA also gave away over $50,000 in other prizes donated by sponsors. Ralph Brookens of Brookens Wood Floors Inc. won a Lagler Trio sander valued at $6,000, Jo Ann Arceneaux of Cytec Industries Inc. won a $4,700 UV floor curing package from Carvers/HID Ultraviolet, and Dustin Lanni of Westside Floors won the $4,000 portable dust collector from Bona US.

Nick Lux won the Nailed It! Nailing Contest. He received the Nailed It! trophy, a Primatech nailer valued at $600 and a $165 Powernail palm nailer. Joshua Crossman came in second, receiving a Stanley Bostitch portable air compressor, and David Nguyen came in third, taking home a set of knee pads and a case of Powernail Cleats. Neophyte nailer Ellen McDermott earned the title of Slowest Nailer with her first ever attempt at nailing a wood floor. She hit 19 of 21 marks in two minutes, and took home an Easy Groove nail setter.
