To raise money for The Center for an Agricultural Economy, Vermont Natural Coatings will be hosting a "locavore" lunch on July 14 in Hardwick, Vt., to be eaten off of 18 handmade tables from the Naked Table Project.
The Naked Table Project was started by Vermont furniture maker Charles Shackleton to encourage forest stewardship and use of the local sugar maple. Project participants start in the forest, learning to make tables from locally sourced wood and finishing them with Vermont Natural Coatings' dairy-based PolyWhey. The table makers then share a locally sourced feast with the community before taking home their heirloom "naked" tables.
While the table workshop is limited to 18 tables, 100 tickets are available for the lunch at $40 each. Proceeds will benefit The Center for An Agricultural Economy. Tickets and table project reservations can be made by emailing Vermont Natural Coatings or calling them at (802) 472-8700.
