3M has created a free smartphone application for Apple and Android devices that provides hearing protection and conservation information. Industrial hygienists and safety professionals can perform preliminary assessments of sound levels in an environment, find answers to common hearing conservation questions, view a catalog of 3M's hearing protection products, learn to asses the fit for 3M hearing products, and learn how to set up a hearing conservation program.
"We want to bring health and safety information to the palm of our customers' hands," said Nicole Vars McCullough, Ph.D., CIH, global technical services manager with 3M's Personal Safety Division in a statement. "Our goal is to help simplify health and safety professional's decisions around hearing protection-and with all the things a mobile app can do for them-we're a step closer to doing just that."
3M also recently launched a respiratory protection app and a mobile version of its website.
