Common arguments for hard surface flooring over carpet are the myriad health benefits: It doesn't trap allergens, doesn't encourage mold growth, is easier to clean, etc. But an engineered wood flooring company in Malaysia goes even further, claiming its "Ionwood," which contains negative ions, can "recharge the body, boost immune system, reduce stress, provide peace of mind and improve blood circulation to the body," company director Lily Wong told The Borneo Post.
Epro Ionwood also claims its ionized wood flooring resists termites, water damage and denting, and, when scratched, will not mark, all because of the charged ions. Skeptics may find the flooring's variety of colors and species, low-chemical production process and 15-year warranty a little easier to believe.
Epro Ionwood will debut its product at the Perfect Livin' '13 exhibition at the Borneo Convention center this weekend. The company charges US$10 per square foot, but includes free installation with purchases of 300 square feet or more.
