New Lacey Act Amendment Would Exempt Pre-2008 Imports

U.S. Representative John Fleming (R-La.) introduced a bill (H.R. 3280) on Oct. 9 titled the "Lacey Act Clarifying Amendments of 2013." The one-page bill is narrowly focused, specifying that the Lacey Act amendments of 2008 do not apply to plants or products that were imported prior to May 22, 2008, the date of enactment of last Farm Bill. Representative G.T. Thompson (R-Pa.) is the bill's only cosponsor.
