Construction spending in August was at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $915.1 billion, 0.6 percent above July's rate and 7.1 percent above August 2012, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Residential construction rose 1.2 percent from July to $340.2 billion. Nonresidential private construction rose 0.1 percent to $300.3 billion. Public construction spending rose 0.4 percent to $273.4 billion.
