Lumber Liquidators Plans Corporate, Manufacturing Expansion

Lumber Liquidators' announcement last week that it will expand its corporate and manufacturing operations is expected to result in the establishment of  approximately 250 new jobs in the company's home state of Virginia over the next three years. The company's $60 million-plus commitment has plenty of Virginia officials talking, beginning with Gov. Bob McDonnell, who issued a press release calling the hardwood flooring retailer a "shining example of why the Commonwealth consistently ranks as the best state for business in the U.S."

Lumber Liquidators' plans also call for the expansion of its flagship Bellawood hardwood flooring finishing and the consolidation of its East Coast distribution operations-allowing for the retention of 500 jobs.

Meanwhile, Lumber Liquidators remains embroiled in various lawsuits awaiting trial that claim the company sold wood with elevated levels of formaldehyde and violated U.S. and Russian laws by importing wood from protected forests in Siberia.
