Public Comment Period for 'Hardwood Checkoff' Reopens

The public comment period for the Hardwood Lumber and Hardwood Plywood Promotion, Research and Information Order, more commonly referred to as the "Hardwood Checkoff," has reopened on the U.S. Department of Agriculture website. It will remain open until Feb. 18. The government-organized program, much like the dairy industry's "Got Milk?" campaign, would take a portion of the entire hardwood industry's sales to promote the use of hardwood. A Blue Ribbon committee of 14 hardwood lumber and hardwood plywood industry leaders representing small and large manufacturers submitted the Hardwood Checkoff to the USDA.
