John Arata, owner of Mr. Sandman Hardwood Floors in the San Francisco Bay Area, has joined other home service providers in creating an online marketplace alternative to what he calls the "outdated, wasteful ways home services have been provided." Dubbed bizbuzz and currently in beta testing, the site is free to both contractors and homeowners. It provides an online cost-effective and turnkey solution for wood floor contractors (and other service providers) to bid, hire, evaluate, refer and share home projects. To that end, the site uses photographs to reduce the costs and amounts of trips a contractor needs to make to a home.

New users can create an account and register under "MYSHOP" or "MYHOME"; service providers and homeowners will then be able to find each other. Also available in app form for Apple and Android, bizbuzz allows service providers to bid jobs more efficiently, build their businesses with targeted market campaigns and embrace technology without making a monetary investment. Benefits to homeowners include the ability to find contractors, join groups and communicate with other customers, and store valuable home information in a centralized location.
