The Hardwood Forest Foundation presented its award winning "Truth About Trees" program to more than 60 children at the World Forestry Center in Portland, Ore., in conjunction with Western Hardwood Association's International Convention and Exposition.
"Truth About Trees" is a program and video for children that highlights the connection between sustainable forestry management and forest products. The HFF has been presented the program at a number of flooring and forest industry trade shows, including Surfaces and the National Wood Flooring Association's Wood Flooring Expo.
The World Forestry Center was a particularly fitting spot for the program because of its kid-friendly exhibits-a wet-free raft ride, tree canopy lift and smoke jumper simulation.
"As I expected, the children we hosted crawled over the place from the second they entered the facility," said Charley Fiala, Foundation vice president, WHA member and West Coast Salesman for GMC Hardwoods. "WFC offers so much for them to explore and consequently learn about the marvels of sustained forestry."
