Bill Requires Public Building Projects to Buy American Wood

Under a new bill being sent through the United States' Legislature, the head of a federal agency may not use funds for the building or repair of a public building unless "substantially all" of the wood products are produced in the United States.

The bill, S. 2682, is sponsored by Sen. Mark Pryor, D-Ark. It was read twice in the U.S. Senate and was referred to the Committee on Finance on July 29.

The committee has not yet scheduled a hearing.
