Now In Effect: Wood Products in BioPreferred Program

The U.S. Department of Agriculture, effective Sept. 2, has begun recognizing wood products under its BioPreferred Program.

The USDA had expanded its definition of biobased products to include forest products on Aug. 6. Prior to the change, forest products weren't incentivized through the BioPreferred program because they were considered "mature market" products.
