Wood Flooring Crushes Carpet, Tile in Houzz Tastes Survey

Almost half of the respondents in a Houzz survey said they plan to install wood flooring, either solid or engineered, throughout their home.

Of the 1,715 homeowners who shared their decorating plans with Houzz during the Internet design community's summer survey, 34 percent said they have or plan to have solid hardwood flooring in their home. With engineered wood flooring, 13 percent have it or plan to have it. Taken together, 47 percent of respondents favor wood flooring in their home.

Also in the study, 43 percent of men make their decorating decisions based on their significant other's tastes. Women said they let their significant other's tastes dictate their decor decisions 29 percent of the time.
