Former NHLA President Greg Kitchens Dies at 67

Greg Kitchens passed away Sept. 8 at his home in Utica, Miss.

Kitchens worked in the hardwood flooring industry since graduating from the University of Mississippi in 1968. He worked for Kitchens Brothers Manufacturing Company and Kitchens Lumber Company.

He served as the president of the Hardwood Manufacturers Association from 1995–1996 and as president of the National Hardwood Lumber Association from 2000–2002.

Apart from his lumber business accolades, he was the president of the Southwest Mississippi Electric Power Association and served on its board. He also served on the board of the South Mississippi Power Association.

He was an avid hunter and participated in a number of safari clubs, winning several awards for his prowess.

Services will be held Sept. 11 at the Utica Christian Church, with internment to follow at Utica Cemetery. Visitation will be 5–7 p.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg, Miss., Sept. 10, and at 9 a.m. on Sept. 11 at Utica Christian Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blair E. Batson Hospital and the Utica Christian Church.
