The community around St. Stephen AME Church of Detroit has lost the only basketball court and athletic center in its immediate area.
The gym floor at the church is badly warped due to water and neglect, and the church has had to cancel all athletic activities there. The church does not have the funds to make repairs without incurring large debt.
