The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service reopened the public comment process on its proposal to list the Northern long-eared bat for protection under the Endangered Species Act.
The docket will now accept comments for an additional month and will close at 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 18.
The decision to extend the comment period came in the wake of an 18-page letter several regional coalitions of forestry and conservation officials, led by the Midwest Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies, sent the USFWS.
