Sales of new single-family houses in October increased to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 458,000, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
This is 0.7 percent higher than September's rate of 455,000 and represents a 1.8 percent increase from a rate of 450,000 in October 2013.
The median sales price of new houses sold in October was $305,000, and the average sales price was $401,100. That is an increase from September's median of $259,000 and average of $313,200.
