U.S. consumers are growing more comfortable with making larger purchases of home goods, such as wood flooring, online.
U.S. online sales of home goods, including home appliances and home improvement products, jumped 17 percent in the third quarter—faster than the 11 percent sales growth seen by the retail industry, according to a Marketwatch article.
Home Depot saw a 40 percent growth in its third-quarter online sales, and Ted Decker, its vice president of merchandising, said during a conference call with analysts that they're seeing more and more big-item orders.
"The customer is quite happy to order complete flooring jobs and direct delivery to the home," he said.
