SVB Wood Floor Service sponsored an NWFA Certified Professionals training and testing school for its employees on-site at its Grandview, Mo., facility on Nov. 18–20.
Twenty-four SVB employees participated and 17 took either an NWFACP Installation or Sand & Finish test. Some took both tests.
The school was a "poster child" for how member sponsored training events should be hosted, said NWFA VP of education and certification Brett Miller.
"SVB did an amazing job having panels ready, material on-site, tools available, sufficient power, safety protocol, meals, plenty of space and, above all, a spotless facility to host such an event," he said. "This class and certification training was an excellent representation of what NWFA sponsored events are all about."
In addition to Miller, the school was led by Phil Matthews, Master's Craft; Manny Hernandez, Loba-Wakol LLC; Pat Parker, Norton/Saint-Gobain; Dee Lenston, Bona US; Johannes Boonstra, Rubio Monocoat; and Tom Heese, Primatech Inc.
Those companies, as well as Missouri Hardwood, donated materials to the school.
Participants were Xavier Amador, Jacob Barnes, Joseph Beller, Curtis Bennett, Elijah Berthold, Nathaniel Bogard, Andrew Boone, Steven Brattin, Al Colding, Marcus Cooney, James Cordy, Gabriel Falcon, Kevin Flowers, Phil Matthews, Eric Nolan, Vern Peterson II, Carlos Ramirez, Brandon Reynolds, Tyler Rider, Eric Stomboly, Jeremy Sullivan, Matt Taylor, Shane White and Andrew Williams.
"Every one of the SVB employees who attended and participated in the training and certification testing exceeded the expectations set forth by NWFACP within this program," Miller said. "The NWFA Certified Professionals program just added several individuals to the elite group who help us designate the CP program to the premier level it was intended."
