Mohawk's Unilin Lays Off 47 Workers in West Virginia

Unilin, a division of Mohawk Inc., will lay off 47 workers at its Mingo County facility, located in southern West Virginia, effective Jan. 1.

The plant at the Buck Harless Wood Products Industrial Park produces hardwood flooring for wholesale distribution. It employs 182 workers, according to the Williamson Daily News.

The employees were notified during the first week of December. Unilin and the West Virginia Department of Labor will help the employees find new career opportunities, according to the newspaper.

“We appreciate the dedicated and talented people at the Holden facility, because they are a tremendous team,” Erika Croy, Unilin’s vice president of human resources, told the newspaper. “We are making an essential business decision to align production with market demand, but right now our top priority is providing support and assistance to the people who will be laid off.”
