The United States Forest Service released its final planning directives that direct implementation of the 2012 planning rule for land management planning for the National Forest System.
The planning directives are the result of a comprehensive public comment process that received 16,000 comments since the directives were proposed in Februrary 2013.
The final planning directives, effective since Jan. 30, support consistent approaches to achieving the broad goals of the 2012 planning rule.
