Results: What’s the Fastener Spacing When Blind-Nailing Plank?

The recent poll sent to National Wood Flooring Association members asked: What should be the fastener spacing when blind nailing ¾-inch solid planks that are 3 inches or wider?

About 70 percent of NWFA member contractors, manufacturers, distributors and other NWFA members chose the right answer of 6–8 inches. The second most chosen answer was 4 to 6 inches.

Which member group had the most right answers? First place goes to the distributors. Of the distributors who responded in the poll, 86 percent chose the right answer.

Seventy-one percent of contractors got it right, followed by other NWFA members with 65 percent and manufacturers with 57 percent.
