Lumber Liquidators (Toano, Va.) fired Chief Merchandising Officer William Schlegel, who had been with the company for four years.
His position will be given to Marco Pescara, the company’s chief marketing officer since 2006. Pescara will be responsible for both roles effective June 19.
"Over the last nine years, Marco has played a critical role in the company's growth and development by maintaining a consistent focus on service to our customers,” said owner Tom Sullivan in a statement. “By coordinating the merchandising and marketing departments under his leadership, I believe we will be better situated to identify and satisfy customer demand for our assortment of flooring products and accessories.”
Schlegel is the fourth high-profile employee to leave the company in the wake of a “60 Minutes” report that aired in March and accused the company of selling Chinese-made laminate flooring with excessive formaldehyde levels.
Former Lumber Liquidators CEO Robert Lynch quit abruptly in May.
Chief Compliance Officer Ray Cotton and Chief Financial Officer Daniel Terrell also left the company.
