Shaw Report: 66 Percent of Sales Were Cradle to Cradle Silver

Shaw Industries Inc.’s (Dalton, Ga.) Cradle to Cradle Certified Silver products made up 66 percent of all sales in 2014, according to the company’s sustainability report, released this week.

Cradle to Cradle Silver products must meet a number of requirements as determined by the independent Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute. For example, a Silver product can contain no substances known or suspected to cause harm and must be manufactured using a percentage of renewable energy.

Shaw’s sustainability report also outlined a $20 million investment in a carpet recycling facility, which will add to the company’s ongoing efforts that have resulted in more than 800 million pounds of post-consumer carpet recycled since 2006.
