Despite a burgeoning building industry in Europe, the wood flooring sector has not benefited, according to a report published by the Global Flooring Alliance.
Production of wood flooring in the 17 countries of the European Federation of the Parquet Industry (FEP) declined from 67.04 million square meters in 2013 to 62.8 million square meters in 2014—a decrease of 6.6 percent.
Production of flooring in all of Europe decreased by only 1 percent to 76 million square meters.
The data showed that wood flooring consumption also decreased in FEP member countries in 2014 by 6.6 percent to a level of about 77 million square meters.
