Woodhenge, built using Planet Hardwood's 30-inch-wide, 7-foot-tall flooring samples, was an idea developed by the company's marketer.
Planet Hardwood's showroom is 6,000 square feet.
The idea was sparked when Planet Hardwood’s marketer saw the company’s sample sizes for the first time. The 30-inch-wide, 7-foot-tall samples looked “monolithic,” said Jeff Pierce of Crosshair Communications.
So he convinced the Planet Hardwood team to lug a number of the samples outside and position them to look like Stonehenge.
The sculpture could have been a tourist attraction, but it was only up long enough for some high-resolution photos to be taken. Pierce said he’s trying to convince the company to keep Stonehenge up full-time … inside.
