Just in time for college basketball season, NCAA Final Four court manufacturer Connor Sports (Amasa, Mich.) will use a $135,000 grant from the U.S. Forest Service to improve its biomass-fueled steam boiler system to reduce waste and fossil fuel emissions.
“The receipt of this grant allows us to make some improvements to our biomass-fueled steam boiler system, those improvements thereby greatly reducing the environmental footprint of all products manufactured at our Amasa, Michigan, location,” said Jason Gasperich, Connor Sports director of sustainability, in a statement.
The grant will be used to increase boiler efficiency by at least 10 percent, automate boiler operations and increase boiler capacity—all of which will allow Connor Sports to reduce the amount of fuel burned and pollutants emitted into the atmosphere.
