Greenbuild Conference 2016 stakeholders reached a 90 percent waste diversion rate, according to Greenbuild’s sustainability report.
“Sustainability is the heart of Greenbuild and we celebrate many successes from our 2016 event, including the highest waste diversion rate ever for Greenbuild, which is a testament to many hours, weeks and months that went into planning Greenbuild by our dedicated team and partners,” said Lindsay Roberts, Greenbuild group director, in a statement.
Greenbuild also returned 33,000 gallons of water to regional ecosystems by purchasing water restoration certificates to balance water use at the convention center. Fifty-six percent of the food at Greenbuild was sourced locally and 87 percent was sourced regionally. Greenbuild also offset 100 percent of event emissions through a partnership with TerraPass, making the event carbon-neutral.
