Seventeen states added construction jobs between March and February, the AGCA said.
"Construction job gains were much less widespread in March after unseasonably mild weather boosted hiring in more states than usual in February," said Ken Simonson, chief economist for the association, in a statement.
California added the most construction jobs year-over-year in March with 42,000, a 5.5 percent increase. Florida added 36,500, a 7.9 percent increase; Texas added 18,900 jobs, a 2.7 percent increase; and Washington added 12,200 jobs, a 6.7 percent increase.
Ten states and Washington D.C. lost construction jobs between March 2016 and March 2017. Illinois lost the most construction jobs, down 7,100.
