Egger Wood Products (St. Johann in Tirol, Austria), a flooring and furniture manufacturer, plans to open its first U.S. plant in Davidson County, N.C.
Egger will invest $700 million over the next 15 years in its facility and expects to create 770 jobs. Of those jobs, 400 are expected in the next six years, which marks the first phase of the project.
Construction is scheduled to start at the end of 2018 and production is slated to begin in 2020.
“This facility will play a critical role in growing Egger’s presence in the North American market for wood-based materials and ensuring product availability and speed of delivery for our customers here,” said Walter Schiegl, Egger Group CTO and member of the executive board, in a statement.
