Mohawk Industries Reports Highest Sales in History in Q2

Mohawk Industries reported a second quarter profit of $261.75 million, a 2.2 percent increase compared with its profit of $256.11 million in the second quarter of 2016, according to the company’s financial filing with the SEC.

Sales for the quarter were $2.45 billion, the highest sales in company history and an increase of 6.1 percent compared with sales of $2.31 billion in the second quarter of 2016.

Mohawk’s sales of flooring in North America totaled $1.04 billion, an increase of 6.04 percent compared with sales of $980.69 million in the second quarter of 2016. Rest-of-world flooring sales in the second quarter of 2017 were $510.07 million, up 2 percent from $499.85 million in the second quarter of 2016.

“For the period, our hard surface sales outpaced carpet, and residential sales were stronger than commercial,” said CEO Jeffrey Lorberbaum in a statement. “We have implemented price increases and improved our product mix, which together have offset material and other inflation.”
