Police: Mohawk Employee Committed Fraud, Took $766,000 From Company

An employee of Mohawk Industries (Calhoun, Ga.), Debora Busby, has been charged with 51 counts of financial transaction card fraud and 51 counts of identity fraud, according to a statement from the Calhoun Police Department.

“It is alleged that Busby had taken approximately $766,000.00 over a three-year span, and used the money to pay personal bills, take lavish vacations and purchase various items for personal use,” Police Captain Tony Pyle said in a statement.

A LinkedIn profile for Busby identifies her as the “ClearPay Commission and Rebates Specialist” at the company. She has worked for Mohawk Industries since 2000, according to the profile.

A spokesperson for Mohawk declined comment on the story.

The police department charged Busby after a four-month investigation. The investigation started when employees found discrepancies in a number of company accounts, according to the Times Free Press.

The police believe Busby acted alone.
