Lumber Liquidators (Toano, Va.) committed $100,000 in cash and flooring product to Hurricane Harvey relief in Aransas Pass, Texas, which is located on the Gulf of Mexico near Corpus Christi. The company has already donated almost 12,000 square feet of engineered vinyl plank flooring worth more than $40,000 and will provide more than $50,000 in cash to a fund to furnish the library, offices and common spaces of A.C. Blunt Middle School. The school was the hardest hit in the area, according to local newspaper the Caller Times, and had to close.
Half of the cash donation was raised by Lumber Liquidators employees through a GoFundMe campaign.
"When we heard about the devastation to this community and its schools, we wanted to do our small part to help rebuild,” said CEO Dennis Knowles in a statement. “We were inspired by the courage and perseverance of the extraordinary team of educators at A.C. Blunt Middle School. Supporting this community is true to our company's mission to 'lay it forward' and it is an honor for our team to be able to contribute to the recovery."
