The California Air Resources Board renewed an ultra-low emitting formaldehyde (ULEF) exemption for American OEM Wood Floors (Burns, Tenn.) after the manufacturer's engineered flooring passed all of its indoor air quality tests for formaldehyde emissions this month.
The exemption was also extended to include product with HDF-core materials, which the company will manufacture beginning in the second quarter of this year.
American OEM Founder and CEO Don Finkell said the organization will continue quarterly tests for VOCs. "The health and safety of our consumers is of the upmost concern to us," Finkell said in a statement.
The air quality testing and certification was performed by third-party HPVA Laboratories. In addition to CARB-exempt status, the manufacturer has also achieved Indoor Advantage Gold certification for ultra-low emitting materials for both its American OEM private-label products and products from its new brand, Hearthwood.
