A lumber company in Medford, N.J., is facing $106,432 in proposed fines after an OSHA inspection determined it had exposed employees to combustible dust, among other health and safety violations.
The inspection of DuBell Lumber Company was spurred by a complaint to OSHA about the workplace’s conditions, according to a press release. Aside from exposure to combustible dust, the company was cited for failing to train employees on how to control the release of hazardous energy.
OSHA stated the company also failed to implement lockout/tagout procedures and that it did not have machine guards to protect employees from amputations.
The lumber company has 15 business days after receiving notice of the violations to comply with or contest the citations.
