The USDA Forest Service announced it will invest an additional $8 million in its Wood Innovations Program, which awards grants to projects that expand wood product and wood energy markets, reduce wildfire risk, improve forest health, and otherwise have a lasting impact on both Forest Service and other forest lands. The program has awarded over 310 grants since 2005 to small businesses, nonprofits, tribes, states and local governments. The full announcement can be found here.
