AkzoNobel Announces Upgrades to Wood Coatings Facility

AkzoNobel Coatings (High Point, N.C.) announced a multi-million-dollar investment in its wood coatings manufacturing facility in High Point, N.C., which produces hardwood floor stains and sealers, among many other coatings.

The investment will include the addition of automatic dosing unit technology, a new raw materials warehouse, a research lab and a technical application center. Construction is slated to begin this month and conclude by 2020.

"We'll be able to provide current and future customers with even more flexibility through the delivery of small batch sizes; higher accuracy in stains and solid colors; more water-based products and a rapid response to requests,” Managing Director of Industrial Coatings Simon Parker said in a statement.

The High Point facility currently spans 30 acres and employs more than 250 people.
